Most drywall repairs are straightforward. The skill is in blending: matching the wall or ceiling texture so the patch disappears once it's painted. If a stain or soft spot points to water, we'll stop and find out where it's coming from before patching over it. See our drywall repair guide.
When to call
- Holes from doorknobs, anchors, furniture or old TV mounts
- Cracks at corners of doors and windows, or along ceiling seams
- Nail pops and tape lifting along joints
- Openings left after a plumbing, electrical or HVAC repair
- Water-stained drywall after the leak has been fixed
What's included
Small patches
Nail holes, anchor holes and dents filled, sanded and primed.
Medium and large patches
Holes up to a section of wall patched with new drywall, taped, mudded and sanded.
Texture matching
Knockdown, orange peel, smooth and other common Florida finishes matched as closely as possible.
Paint
Primer and paint on the repair, or the whole wall when a spot touch-up won't blend. See painting and caulking.
What we refer to a licensed trade
- Plumbing leaks, fixtures and water heaters (Uniform Plumbing)
- New wiring, circuits and panel work (Uniform Electric)
- HVAC equipment and ductwork (Uniform HVAC)
- Structural, roofing and permitted work (licensed contractor)
- Active leaks or moisture behind the wall (find and fix the source first)
- Mold remediation (a qualified remediation specialist)
We'll tell you which items are handyman work and which need a licensed contractor before anything is quoted. See credentials and scope.
How we do it
We look at the damage and the surrounding finish, check for moisture with a meter where water is suspected, then cut back to sound material, patch, tape and finish in coats with drying time between. Larger repairs can take more than one visit because compound needs to dry.
Your options
| Option | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Spot patch | Small holes and cracks in an otherwise sound wall. |
| Section replacement | Larger holes, damaged or water-stained drywall after the leak is fixed. |
| Patch and paint | You want the repair finished, not just paint-ready. |
| Several repairs, one visit | Multiple patches around the house, done together. |
What affects the price
You get a written estimate before any work starts. These are the things that move the number:
- Size and number of repairs
- Ceiling vs wall, and ladder or scaffold access
- Texture type
- Whether paint is included and how much wall needs painting
- Multiple visits for drying time
More detail is in our Naples handyman cost guide.

Frequently asked questions
Will the patch be invisible?
On a well-matched texture and fresh paint it usually blends well. Strong side light and older paint can make any repair easier to see, and we'll tell you honestly what to expect.
Do I need to fix the leak first?
Yes. Patching over an active leak or wet drywall just hides the problem. If it's plumbing, Uniform Plumbing can find and fix it.
How long does it take?
Small patches are often done in one visit. Larger repairs may need a second visit after the compound dries.
Need a handyman you can trust in your home?
Call now. We'll ask a few questions, give you an honest arrival window and send a background-checked handyman pro in uniform.
