Confirm before you book
- Is there an existing fan, or a light fixture you want to replace?
- Is the ceiling box fan-rated? (Light boxes often aren't)
- Ceiling height, to choose the right downrod
- Room size, to choose the right fan size
- Indoor, damp-rated (covered lanai) or wet-rated (exposed)?
- Wall switch, pull chain or remote control?
Licensing boundaries
Florida generally requires electrical work to be done by a licensed electrical contractor. Replacing a fan on an existing, properly rated box and circuit is a different job from adding a new box, switch or circuit. We'll tell you how your job will be handled, and arrange a licensed electrical contractor where it's required. Check DBPR to verify any contractor's license.
Sizing at a glance
Larger rooms need larger blade spans, and high ceilings need a downrod so the fan sits at a comfortable height. Manufacturer guidance is the best reference for your specific fan.
